Serbia is Moving towards Energy Independence from Russia, plans Gas from Azerbaijan in 2023

Serbia, which is 100 percent dependent on the Russian Federation for gas supplies, will get the necessary quantities for this winter from Russia, but for 2023 plans to buy gas from Azerbaijan. Zorana Mihajlovic, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Mining of Serbia announced this in an interview with the state-run Serbian TV RTRS.

Methane Explosion in Serbian Soko Mine Kills Eight Miners

Part of the pit at the Soko coal mine collapsed and caused a methane explosion, leaving eight miners dead and at least 18 injured on Friday.

Sasa Spasic, director of the Public Enterprise for Underground Coal Exploitation Resavica, announced the names of the dead, while the number of injured miners is not yet definite.

He said this in a discussion led with Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, this ministry said.
"We are happy that things are going in a positive direction and we will continue to support the process. Serbia has a leading position in the region and is important for maintaining stability," Godfrey said.
