New York authorities on Aug. 8 returned to Italy several dozen stolen antiquities worth nearly $3.5 million, as the American megapolis strives to shake off the reputation as a key global hub for illicit art trade.
No rerouting Trans Adriatic Pipeline, says its president
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) taking gas from Azerbaijan to Europe will pump the first gas into Italy at the start of 2020 despite local protests against the 4.5-billion-euro project, TAP's president told Reuters.
"We are on track to deliver the gas in the first quarter of 2020," Walter Peeraer said in an interview.
50 Mobsters Arrested in Southern Italy
Italian police arrest 50 people for mafia links in the southern province of Apulia.
According to ANSA, all arrested are members of the local Sakra organized crime group. They will be charged with murder, blackmail, drug trafficking and arms. The operation, started at the end of last year, was carried out in the towns of Lecce, Brindisi and Taranto.
