Greece opens fire at civilian boat in Aegean Sea
Greece opened fire at a boat carrying civilians off the island of Rhodes in the Aegean Sea, said the Turkish Coast Guard Command on Aug. 11.
In a statement, the command said two Turkish and one Syrian nationals were injured and the boat sank due to the attack.
It said the attack took place 0040GMT in the Greek waters, 7.2 nautical miles from Turkey's Mugla province.

A German academic who was sailing in the Aegean Sea on his catamaran when the pandemic had entered Europe has been stranded in the middle of the Aegean Sea since both Turkey and Greece closed their borders.
Asylum seekers forced from Greek waters rescued
The Greek Coast Guard on March 31 forced 18 asylum seekers into Turkish territorial waters off the southeastern coast, where they were rescued by Turkey.
A Turkish Coast Guard team rescued the asylum seekers off the Datça district, in the Aegean, in the Muğla province, said the coast guard command.

Virus concern creates fake real estate advertisements
The coronavirus anxiety has spread to Turkey's real estate sector as some people are putting up unrealistic and misleading advertisements, claiming some houses are "coronavirus-free" or "isolated from the virus."
Real estate consultations say that since the virus has spread to Europe, the demand for detached houses and lands outside cities has increased.
Mosaics protected by roof in ancient city
A roof has been constructed to protect the 1,600-year-old Byzantine-era mosaics in the ancient city of Stratonikeia in the western province of Muğla's Yatağan district while the work is underway to make a glass terrace.

Savings rise more than 25 percent in 2019
The amount of money kept in saving deposit accounts at local banks increased by 25.4 percent from 2018 to stand at 1.45 trillion Turkish Liras (around $241 billion) last year, state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) and the country's banking sector regulator (BDDK).

5.4 magnitude quake strikes Mediterranean Sea
Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said an earthquake took place in the Mediterranean Sea off southwestern Turkish shores on Jan. 28.
In a Twitter post, AFAD said: ""#EARTHQUAKE: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 occurred at 18.38 [1538GMT] in the Mediterranean Sea off [southwestern] Marmaris shores."
