That is not to say that the Greek capital doesn't have a lot of potential - quite the opposite - but those who have worked hard and continue to do so in order to revive and modernize the city's hotel infrastructure must be feeling very lonely.

Queen's Tower | Athens | Year-Round
One of the Greek capital's most overlooked historic monuments, Pyrgos Vassilissis, or the Queen's Tower, in the suburb of Ilion, is a beautiful example of Gothic architecture built by Queen Amalia in 1854 after the plot was purchased from two Britons who wanted to develop a model farm.

Metro stations to host homeless for third week in a row
Following a decision by Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis, the homeless will be able to sleep at three central Athens metro stations - Omonia, Monastiraki and Metaxourgeio - which will stay open around the clock for the third week in a row due to freezing overnight temperatures.
If necessary, the measure will be enforced again, the minister said.
Snow blankets Athens, affecting schools but not public transport
Authorities have ordered all schools in Attica to remain closed on Tuesday due to heavy snowfall on Monday night that caused only a few minor disruptions to traffic and public transport on Tuesday morning.

Large parts of the Attica region, including downtown Athens are covered in snow, causing disruptions in transports throughout the city. The Greek meteorological services (EMY) warned in an bulletin that the weather would deteriorate even further. Heavy snow started falling from 8pm in all the suburbs around Athens, even in seaside areas.

Family identifies body of woman washed up near Patra
The body of a woman that washed up on a beach near Patra in western Greece has been identified by her family as the 31-year-old suspected of jumping off the Rio-Antirrio bridge on New Year's Eve.
A security camera on the bridge had captured images of the woman getting out of her car and then disappearing from the screen.
