Aegean Airlines records 8.0% revenue growth in 2015‏

Aegean Airlines announced on Thursday that its consolidated revenue grew 8.0% to 983 million euros in 2015 compared with the previous year and that passenger traffic grew 15% to 11.6 million.

Net pre-tax earnings went up 6.0% to 100.3 million euros, while net after tax earnings fell 15% to 68.4 million euros due to increased tax burden.

In the joint press conference following the bilateral meeting between the Greek delegation and the Turkish one in Smyrna, Turkey, within the framework of the Hellenic-Turkish ministerial Council, Greek PM Alexis Tsipras stated that the top priority at this point for both countries was to save the lives of those refugees crossing the Aegean Sea.

Turkey violates Greek airspace 36 times in one day

Six Turkish fighter jets and two CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft entered Athens’ FIR on Monday without submitting a flight plan, violating the Greek airspace 36 times in different regions of the Aegean.

Athens’ FIR also recorded five more violations of air traffic rules, while two of the Turkish aircraft were armed.

Turkey wants to coordinate search operation for the missing Navy crew members

Turkey challenges Greece’s sovereignty rights in the Aegean Sea, while the search operation for the three crew members of the Hellenic Navy’s helicopter that crashed is still in progress .

The operation is being conducted in the sea area between the islands of Leros and Amorgos.

Aegean Airlines increases its daily flights to Skiathos

Aegean Airlines on Wednesday announced that it is planning four daily flights to the island of Skiathos for 2016 tourist season following the increased number of arrivals in 2015.

The company outlined its plans on Wednesday at a meeting held between the mayor of Skiathos Dimitrios Prevezanos and Aegean Airlines president Theodoros Vassilakis.

Turkish carrier reaches 22.3 million passengers

Turkish airline Pegasus carried a total of 22.34 million passengers in 2015, a 13.2 percent increase from the previous year, the airline announced in a written statement on Jan. 30. 

The number of domestic flight passengers rose by 15.4 percent to 13.81 million and of foreign flight passengers by 9.8 percent to 8.52 million in 2015 compared to the previous year.
