Turkey violates Greek airspace 36 times in one day

Six Turkish fighter jets and two CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft entered Athens’ FIR on Monday without submitting a flight plan, violating the Greek airspace 36 times in different regions of the Aegean.

Athens’ FIR also recorded five more violations of air traffic rules, while two of the Turkish aircraft were armed.

The 17 of the airspace violations were done by one out of the two CN-235 aircraft which moved from north to south.

In all incidents, the Turkish aircrafts were recognized and intercepted by Greek fighter jets, while in two cases the interception developed into a dogfight.

The dogfights took place west of the island of Psara, in the eastern Aegean.
