Aegean Airlines records 8.0% revenue growth in 2015‏

Aegean Airlines announced on Thursday that its consolidated revenue grew 8.0% to 983 million euros in 2015 compared with the previous year and that passenger traffic grew 15% to 11.6 million.

Net pre-tax earnings went up 6.0% to 100.3 million euros, while net after tax earnings fell 15% to 68.4 million euros due to increased tax burden.

EBITDA totalled 111 million euros, while cash reserves reached 238 million euros at the end of 2015.

Domestic passenger traffic rose 7.0% to 5.6 million and international passenger traffic went up 24% to 6.0 million.

Dimitris Gerogiannis, chief executive of Aegean Airines, said the company achieved a 40% increase in international passenger traffic in the last two years, while results improved for the third successive year.

“2016 is a year with significant challenges both in competition in risks from an unstable environment. However, it is positive that in such an environment, demand for Greece and Athens in particular shows resilience and strengthened,” Mr. Gerogiannis said.
