Romania's President Traian Basescu, Defence Minister Mircea Dusa and Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean will be attending, September 4-5, a summit meeting of NATO in Wales.

NATO will bolster its eastern defences and buttress support for Kiev at a summit starting on Sept. 4 prompted by the Ukraine crisis to enact the most radical shift in its strategy towards Russia since the end of the Cold War.

The presence of NATO fighter aircraft in the territory of Romania and the country's possible participation as a coordinating state of the cyber defence of Ukraine were the topics discussed at the Romanian Supreme Defence Council meeting on Wednesday, President Traian Basescu has announced.

BELGRADE - A delegation of the Serbian Defence Ministry led by Minister Bratislav Gasic will attend as partners a NATO summit in Newport, the UK, which starts on Thursday.

According to a release from the ministry, the meeting, entitled NATO + 24 Parnters, will be used to promote the initiative for partner interoperability and the 2014-2015 Interoperability Platform.

Defense minister to take part in NATO summit

The Supreme Council for Country Defence (CSAT) on Wednesday will gather in a meeting at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace to be chaired by President Traian Basescu following to discuss about the presence of Romania in the NATO Summit upcoming in Wales (UK) this Thursday and Friday.

The NATO Summit will demonstrate NATO’s capabilities as a military alliance, British Ambassador to Turkey Richard Moore said, ahead of the alliance’s Sept. 4-5 meetings in Wales.

The working paper called Outlook 2020: Bulgaria and NATO in European Defense has been unanimously approved at Monday's Council of Ministers session, the ministerial press office says.

In a statement sent to the media, the office adds that the Outlook will be put forward for a public debate in the coming days.

The government's Security Council has discussed amendments in a controversial report of the Bulgarian Defense Ministry outlining the upcoming reforms in the sector.

The document, called Outlook 2020: Bulgaria and NATO in European Defense, had to be overhauled as it contained the notion of "an informational war" with Russia in which it said Bulgaria is involved.
