Unique Discovery: Archaeologists Found the Oldest Metallurgical Plant in Bulgaria

Archaeologists discovered a kind of metallurgical plant during digs near Sozopol. The information was announced on the air of Darik Burgas by Dimitar Nedev, director of the Archaeological Museum in the Old Town. The find dates back to the first decades since Apollonia was founded. An ancient mine has emerged during excavations in the Meden Rid area, near the Bakarlaka Hill.

Antique Artifacts and their Stories on Sozopol's Past

Artifacts from the Apollonia Pontica antique necropolis in the Budjaka area of the Black Sea port town of Sozopol were among the most impressive findings at the 10th national exhibition named Bulgarian Archaeology. Dr. Margarita Popova from the National Museum of History and Dr. Teodora Bogdanova from the Archaeological Museum of Sozopol headed the excavations.

Star of Ancient Sozopol 'Possibly Served as Model for Macedonia's Coat of Arms'

Archaeological excavations in the Bulgarian seaside town of Sozopol on Sunday revealed an interesting find - a leaden bucranium with an eight-ray star, which possibly served as model for the coat of arms of Macedonia.

This was announced by the Director of the National Historical Museum (NIM) Bozhidar Dimitrov in a press release on Monday.

Sozopol Hosts 30-th Edition of Apollonia Art Festival

The 30-th anniversary edition of the Apollonia Art Festival will take place in Bulgaria's seaside town of Sozopol between August 28 and September 6.

The festival has established itself as a gathering point of artists, musicians, writers, poets, actors and architects and has become one of the major points in the summer art programme in Bulgaria.
