Belene Nuclear Power Plant
The European Commission has confirmed that the resumption of Belene NPP after shutdown in 2012 needs to be reassessed as to whether it complies with European rules and whether it complies with the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom Treaty) and possibly with the project to get approval again.
Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova discussed energy cooperation between Bulgaria and Montenegro with Ambassador Snežana Radović on 8th of November. The talks are in continuation of the talks between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov and his counterpart Duško Marković, held in September, reports BNT.
At the earliest - in a year, a project company will be created, which will seek funding for the construction of the Belene NPP and will structure the project. This was made clear by a statement of the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova after the meeting of the government, where she presented the ready procedure for selection of a strategic investor for the future nuclear power plant.
The procedure for the selection of an investor for the Belene NPP project has been developed, some minor details still need refinement, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova told reporters after taking part in a meeting of the Energy Security Council at the Council of Ministers, Focus News Agency has reported.
