Bijeljina massacre

State Investigation and Protection Agency police officers arrested seven people on Friday on suspicion of involvement in the murders of 22 Bosniaks, including seven children and eight women, in the village of Balatun, near Bijeljina during the war in September 1992.

The Higher Court in Belgrade told BIRN on Wednesday that it has terminated proceedings against Nenad Bubalo, the former deputy commander of the military police of the Bosnian Serb Army's 15th Bihac Brigade, because he has died.

The Bosnian state prosecution filed an indictment charging Bubalo in September 2017. It was announced at the time that he was a Serbian citizen.

Former Bosnian Serb policeman Sladjan Tasic faces trial for crimes against humanity after being indicted over the forcible disappearances of six Bosniaks who went missing in the Visegrad municipality in 1992.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that a complaint against Serbia by Bosniaks who were imprisoned in Serbian detention camps during the Bosnian war was inadmissible.

The Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina has sentenced three Serbs to a total of 32 years in prison for war crimes committed against Bosniaks (Muslims) in Sanski Most.

Goran Mrdja, Milorad Mrdja, and Mile Kokot are the defendants who have been found guilty, Beta reported.

The appeals court in Belgrade acquitted Serb former volunteer fighter Miodrag Zivkovic of taking part in raping two women in the Bosnian town of Bijeljina in 1992.

Slobodan Karagic, the former head of a police unit in Doboj, is accused of involvement in the killings of at least 12 Bosniaks among other crimes allegedly committed during attacks in 1992.

Five people have been arrested in the area of Novi Grad charged with war crimes committed in this area during 1992.

These crimes have been committed against Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims).

A Belgrade court acquitted former Serbian volunteer fighter Miodrag Zivkovic of raping two Bosniak women in the Bosnian town of Bijeljina during the war in 1992.

The Belgrade prosecution indicted five former Bosnian Serb fighters for killing 20 passengers who were abducted from a train in Strpci in Bosnia 22 years ago.
