A 59-year-old man has been arrested and faces charges of animal cruelty and illegal weapon possession in Volos, central Greece, after allegedly killing a dog.
The suspect is said to have shot the dog with a hunting rifle for which he does not have a license.

Sea otter fossil found in Çankırı
The fossil of a sea otter has been found in the Central Anatolian province of Ãankırı, revealing 8 million years of animal life in the area.
The excavations, headed by Professor Ayla Sevim Erol of the Anthropology Department at Ankara University, have been ongoing in the area for the last 17 years.

EU pledges 140 mn euros for Ebola-hit West Africa
The European Union on Friday announced 140 million euros ($183 million) in funds to fight the deadly Ebola virus in West Africa, a sharp increase over its previous aid as the outbreak worsens.
The commission said the aid was necessary to boost measures to stop the "worst ever outbreak of the epidemic" from ravaging Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria.
