CNCAV: 511,290 doses of Pfizer vaccine arrive in Romania on Monday

Bucharest, April 4 /Agerpres/ - A new batch of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine will arrive in Romania on Monday, and it will be delivered by air to the airports in Otopeni, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara, the National Coordinating Committee for anti-COVID-19 Vaccination (CNCAV) reported. Transport to storage centers is provided by the producing company, including by land.

Slovenia to get pro rata share of 10m doses of Pfizer vaccine

Brussels – Slovenia will get its pro rata share from a package of 10 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine whose delivery has been pushed forward from the first to the second quarter of the year. Under the plan agreed last evening by EU member states, this means approximately 47,000 doses of the vaccine.

First doses of Pfizer-BioNTech jab administered in Turkey

The first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were administered in Turkey's capital Ankara on April 2. 

Turkey has so far received 2.8 million doses of the vaccine, which was developed by second-generation Turkish immigrants in Germany.

The total is set to reach 4.5 million in the coming weeks, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca told reporters in parliament on Tuesday.

Turkey has new supply sources to speed up vaccination: Health minister

Turkey has registered 180,448 U.K. variant cases of the novel coronavirus in 81 provinces, the country's health minister said in a statement on March 31. 

Following a meeting of the Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Board, Fahrettin Koca said the U.K. variant accounts for 75% of all cases in the country.

BioNTech/Pfizer Vaccine Shows High Protection for Teens, Approval Expected

BioNTech-Pfizer said Wednesday their vaccine showed 100 percent efficacy against the coronavirus in 12 to 15 year olds, as they eye approval for adolescents to get the jabs before the next school year.

Phase 3 trials carried out on 2,260 adolescents in the United States "demonstrated 100 percent efficacy and robust antibody responses", the companies said in a statement.

Bulgaria to Receive 2,86 Million Doses of “Solidarity Vaccines”

Bulgaria is among the five EU member states that may receive 2,86 million "solidarity vaccines" from Pfizer and BionTech. The proposal was made by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The vaccines are part of the 10 million doses that will be redistributed in the European Union by the end of June.

Johnson & Johnson said Monday (29 March) it would start delivering its single-shot COVID vaccine to Europe on April 19, giving the continent a boost as it struggles to speed up its vaccination drive.

The pharmaceutical giant's jab was approved by European Union regulators in mid-March, following approval of vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca.

"Although the number of coronavirus patients in hospital is higher than during the previous wave of coronavirus the hospital system is able to handle the surge," Health Minister Kostadin Angelov declared at a working meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev is expecting the peak of coronavirus infections to be reached this or next week.
