Election blackout sets in

Ljubljana – A blackout period set in on Saturday prior to the general election on Sunday. All political propaganda designed to convince voters to back any party or candidate is banned until polls close at 7pm on Sunday.

New decree law includes 'hidden threats' against TV, radio broadcasters: Turkey's media watchdog member

Debate over a recently issued state of emergency decree law is continuing, as a Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) member elected from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) said the new regulations include "hidden threats" against TV channels and radio broadcasters. 

Truck brings down electricity pole in Piraeus

A truck plowed into an electricity pole in the coastal city of Piraeus on Friday, causing a blackout in the area close to central Hatzikyriakou Street, where the accident occurred.

There was no information suggesting why the truck, which had been parked on a slope, careened into the electricity pole, as well as a garbage bin and parked cars.

No one was injured.
