Bomb scare at Thessaloniki courthouse a hoax


Bomb disposal experts called to the main courthouse in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on Tuesday following an anonymous telephone call warning of a bomb have said that the threat was a hoax.

The call shortly after 11 a.m. to one of the court's offices.

Police evacuated the premises and called in experts to scour the building for explosives.

Suspect parcel discovered at Fokida police station [Update]


A suspect parcel discovered on Tuesday at a police station in Itea, in Fokida, western Greece, contained a homemade explosive device, according to initial reports.

The device, which reportedly contained dynamite and wires, had been placed inside a book.

An army bomb disposal unit was expected to arrive at the Fokida station later in the day.

False Bomb Signal Prompts Evacuation of Mall in Sofia

A bomb signal prompted the evacuation of “The Mall” on Blvd. Tsarigradsko Shose in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia.

The signal came around 6 pm local time and all the customers and staff were evacuated by 7 pm, Vesti.bg reports.

The bomb squads inspected the area for over 3 hours, but did not find any evidence of an explosive device.
