The Bosnian state prosecution said it will indict more than 100 people this year for war crimes during the early 1990s conflict – almost double the number of suspects charged in 2013.

A prosecution witness told the trial of three ex-policemen accused of abusing non-Serb prisoners that detainees held in a student dormitory in Bileca in 1992 were beaten up.

The daughter of the former Bosnian Serb leader, who is currently on trial for war crimes, has been elected as a member of parliament in Serb-dominated Republika Srpska. 

Bahrija Umihanic, Prime Minister of the Canton of Tuzla - the birthplace of the February demonstrations in Bosnia - has resigned in a letter sent to the Cantonal assembly, media reports said.

The main Bosniak, Croatian and Serbian parties in Bosnia - the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, the Croatian Democratic Union, HDZ, and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD  - were the principal victors of the October 12 general elections, the country's election commission has confirmed.

A prosecution witness told Bosnian Serb ex-soldier Petar Kovacevic’s trial that she found out from her neighbours that the defendant shot her father dead near Visegrad in 1992.

Izetbegovic, the leader of the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, had a clear lead over his nearest rival for the Bosniak presidency seat on Monday morning after 76 per cent of ballots were counted.

The first defence witness at the trial of Josip Tolic, charged with abusing Serb prisoners in Odzak and Bosanski Brod, said the defendant saved him from a beating while he was in detention.

Bosnians said goodbye to Sulejman Tihic, late president the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, who died last week in Sarajevo, at services in his hometown of Samac and in Sarajevo on Saturday.

Several thousand people attended the burial service in Samac, northern Bosnia, including politicians, former party colleagues and supporters.

Sulejman Tihic, president of Bosnia's largest Bosniak party, the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, died on September 25 in Sarajevo after a years-long fight with cancer.
