German Scientists: Four-Month Old Ravens As Smart as Chimps

A German study gives new meaning to the term "bird brain," showing that ravens are as smart as some of our closest ancestors, reports DPA.

Scientists from the University of Osnabrück in Germany and the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology compared the physical and social cognitive skills of ravens with those of chimpanzees and orangutans.

‘Caretta carettas in danger of hypothermia’

Local man turns dumpsite into forest in 25 years

A 70-year-old man living in the southeastern province of Mardin has turned a dumpsite into a forest by planting thousands of saplings.

Şeyhmus Erginoğlu has planted a total of 14,000 trees, including 7,000 pine trees and 3,000 plane trees, in the idle areas of Mardin for 25 years, making the city green where the continental climate prevails.

Drugs raid in Agia Varvara leads to 17 arrests

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) made at least 17 arrests on Tuesday in the area of Agia Varvara, western Athens, in a large-scale operation by its narcotics division in which officers from the EKAM counterterrorism unit also participated.

Searches were carried out in 15 houses which yielded quantities of drugs (over a kilogram of cocaine and ecstasy tablets) and large sums of money.
