Charting the great migrations of people
The 100 Memories research program of the National Hellenic Research Foundation marks the 100th anniversary of the largest refugee movement in Greek history with the arrival and settlement of some one million refugees from Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) to Greece. The project charts arrivals and departures to and from the country, focusing on four Greek cities-ports.

Dead whale found floating off Piraeus
The body of a whale was found floating more than two nautical miles off the coast of Piraeus on Wednesday afternoon, the local port authority said.
The authority notified the competent service of the Municipality of Piraeus which towed the body to the beach of Freattida, a district in the southeastern part of Piraeus.
The carcass was then transported to a landfill for burial.

Strict lockdown imposed in Kozani to curb virus spread
Greek authorities on Friday announced a ban on movement from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the suspension of click-and-collect services at retail stores in the region of Kozani, northern Greece, to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Hard lockdown imposed on three West Attica towns
The curfew in West Attica's Elefsina, Mandra and Aspropyrgos has been extended and will start at 6 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. as of Friday, Deputy Civil Protection Minister Nikos Hardalias said on Thursday, announcing measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus in three of the area's five municipalities.

RINA opens Fleet Operating Center in Piraeus
RINA, an international energy, marine, certification, transport & infrastructure and industry service company, on Tuesday announced the opening of its Fleet Operating Center in newly expanded offices in Piraeus.
The new center will allow the ship classification society to manage RINA-classed vessels even more accurately and efficiently all over the world.
