More than 200 asylum seekers temporarily blocked a busy highway near the state-run reception facility near Diavata in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, to demand better living conditions.
It was the second day of protests, carried out mainly by Kurdish migrants. The rally ended peacefully.

An estimated 100 people were taking part in the protest.

Man charged with attempted murder for shooting girlfriend's brother
Police Friday arrested a 29-year-old man in the region of Halkidiki, northern Greece, who shot and seriously injured his girlfriend's 35-year-old brother with a hunting rifle on Saturday.
The incident occurred, reportedly over personal differences, at the Roma settlement of Aghia Sofia in Diavata, a town in the region of Thessaloniki, police said.
Fire at migrant camp near Thessaloniki leaves one man injured
A fire that broke out at a converted factory housing migrants in Diavata, near Thessaloniki, early on Friday, left a man with minor injuries.
The fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m. in one of the prefabricated buildings on the site, prompting the local fire service to intervene and douse the blaze before it could spread to tents and other infrastructure.

A fire broke out in a refugee camp in northern Greece Wednesday, burning more than a dozen tents and sparking a protest by refugees. Police said at least two people were taken to a hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Strong presence of police at Diavata due to reactions for refugee reception centre
A strong presence of police was recorded early in the morning at the gate of the former military camp Anagnostopoulou, in Diavata, Thessaloniki, causing the immediate mobilization of the municipal authority and the local people.
European court charges Greece over detention of five men

Papageorgopoulos due back in court on Wednesday
A Thessaloniki court is on Wednesday to hear the trial of former mayor of Thessaloniki, Vassilis Papageorgopoulos, who faces charges of money laundering.
The 67-year-old, who is serving a 12-year sentence at nearby Diavata Prison for embezzling nearly 18 million euros from municipal coffers, underwent surgery after suffering a heart attack early last month.
