Kopitar wins NHL award for gentlemanly conduct

Slovenian NHL star Anže Kopitar, the captain of the Los Angeles Kings, is the winner of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, the second time he has won the award given out to the hockey player who has shown "the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct".

The NHL said that Kopitar's "four penalty minutes were the fewest among the league's top 100 scorers".

NHL's Penguins sign Slovenian player Drozg

The general manager of the NHL team Jim Rutherford announced yesterday that Drozg's three-year contract would start in the 2019-20 season.

The 19-year-old will thus join Los Angeles Kings captain Anže Kopitar, one of the best players in the NFL, as the second Slovenian in the world's strongest ice hockey league.

Slovenia's ice hockey team secure Olympic berth

This will be Slovenia's second appearance at an Olympic ice hockey tournament after the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, where they made it to the quarter-finals.
