A train with a graffiti-decorated locomotive departed today, August 13, from Sofia to Bourgas. The idea of the Bulgarian state railway company, BDZ, is one of a kind and aims to show that painting in an urban environment can have a beautiful end result, reports BNT. 

Hundreds of Passengers Have Been Blocked at Sofia Airport Due to Flight Delays

Hundreds of passengers were blocked at Sofia Airport because of delays in several flights of the national carrier Bulgaria Air this night.

With more than three hours the flights from Sofia to Varna were postponed. The flight to Burgas was also postponed with several hours.

And there are currently non-scheduled flights.

The Locomotive of the Yambol-Burgas Passenger Train Caught on Fire

The locomotive of the Yambol-Burgas passenger train caught on fire, BNR announced.

The incident happened near Lukoil Neftochim. There are no injured people.

The passenger train stayed in the section between Druzhba and Dolno Ezerovo stations.

150 people travelled on the train, BDZ reports.

The Electricity Price for Business Increased with 203%

A shocking jump in the current electricity price for business. The increase is 203% compared to last Friday's prices. On the Bulgarian market, megawatt hour in the category is 196 leva.

Just for comparison, the price in Europe is 70 leva per megawatt hour, which is nearly 3 times cheaper than in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria Ranks on one of the Last Places for Innovations in EU

Bulgaria and Romania are the two countries in the European Union, defined as "modest innovators," a report by the European Commission showed. According to it, Bulgaria has improved its achievements compared to the previous seven years. A sharp decline has been observed from 2011 to 2012, and an improvement has begun.

Bulgaria Is Among the EU champions for GDP Growth

Over the first quarter of 2019, Bulgaria's GDP has gone up by 3.5 percent, the National Statistical Institute says.

The Gross Added Value in the economy has gone up by 3 percent, export of goods and services is up by 3.9 percent. The country's GDP amounts to 12,606 million euro in current prices or 1,801 euro per capita of the population.

The Train form Plovdiv to Edirne Will Be Temporarily Suspended

Only after two trips from Plovdiv to Edirne and back the train was temporarily suspended, Monitor reported. Since the beginning of the month, the state railways have launched a new route, but after 68 passengers carried on weekends and many publications in the media, the voyages have been canceled.
