Highway operators stand in the way of wind turbine installations

Investors in renewable energy sources are facing fresh obstacles at a time when the government is setting the development of the sector as a priority, with the Energy Ministry shifting its target regarding the share of RES in total energy production in 2030 from 31 percent, as provided for in the National Plan for Energy and the Climate, to 35 percent in the revised blueprint.

Beer Festival | Thessaloniki | August 29 – September 1

The third installment of the Thessaloniki Beer Festival kicks off at the Helexpo exhibition center in the northern port city, featuring 40 brewers and eight street food stalls, as well as live music. Two arrested for migrant smuggling after car chase

Police in northern Greece on Monday arrested two foreign nationals, aged 24 and 19, and charged them with people smuggling after a car chase.
The two suspects had 10 illegal migrants crammed in their car, police said.
The migrants had entered Greece via the country's border with Turkey in the Evros region.

Discounts, no tolls for polls

Transport authorities have announced that charges will be waived for motorists at key tollgates to allow voters to reach their constituencies for the snap general election on Sunday while shipping firms, intercity rail services and airlines will be offering discounts.

State corporations will cause big trouble for the next government

State corporations (DEKO) have been left in a sorry state following SYRIZA's four-year term in government and the next administration following the July 7 election will have to deal with explosive conditions, especially at Hellenic Post, the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTh), Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) and of course Public Power Corporation (PPC).
