Turkey's furniture exports jumped 35 percent in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period in the previous year, marking a record level of $2 billion.

Turkey has started implementing limitations on exports of some raw materials of furniture, including flakeboard, oriented strand board, fiberboard and some types of wood.

According to the country's Official Gazette on June 4, these materials have been entered in the list of the Goods Subject to Registered Export.

Turkey has become the biggest producer of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) in Europe, as the country has enjoyed a sharp rise in less than two decades in terms of export markets.
