Tourism growth offers boost to labor market
The approaching start of the summer holiday season and estimates by the sector's associations of a record number of arrivals this year have resulted in a considerable increase in new hirings - by 92,132 in April, according to the Labor Ministry's Ergani database.

Easter drives hiring statistics higher in March
The local jobs market showed some signs of recovery in March according to the Labor Ministry's Ergani hirings database.
The balance between hirings and departures posted a surplus of 38,517 jobs, which makes last month the best March on record since 2001.

Diyarbakır couple name new-born baby 'Yes' ahead of Turkey's charter referendum

Over 37,600 jobs lost in November, labor ministry system shows
Salaried employment in the private sector slowed down in November, data released by the Labor Ministry's Ergani system showed on Monday.
The system showed that 157,385 people were hired in November and those who left their jobs came to 195,052 people, out of whom 66,978 people left their positions voluntarily, while 128,074 were laid off or did not renew their contracts.

The boyfriend of the 19-year-old woman who was recently shot in the head in southeastern Turkey, allegedly over her decision to join a singing contest on TV, has been arrested by police, though he has claimed innocence.

Private sector salaried employment posted an increase in February for the first time after five months of decline, the Labor Ministry?s hirings register Ergani showed on Wednesday. The balance of hirings and departures from the labor market was 15,124 jobs in the green.

Tourism season’s end hurts jobs
The seasonal factor, i.e. the end of the tourism period for 2014, meant that there were 20,000 more departures than hirings in November, according to official data from the Labor Ministrys Ergani database. This was the third consecutive month that a job deficit was recorded.
