Dutch to shut taps at quake-hit gas field in October

The Netherlands has said that it will close the taps at Europe's largest gas field on October 1 after years of earthquakes, despite global energy worries sparked by Russia's war in Ukraine.

Residents living near the massive Groningen site have complained for more than two decades of being terrorised by quakes which have been directly attributed to drilling operations.

No pause in sight as ECB eyes next rate hike

The European Central Bank will almost certainly deliver another interest rate hike tomorrow, pressing ahead with its fight against inflation even as the eurozone slides into a recession.

Analysts predict that ECB policymakers will copy May's move and again raise borrowing costs by 25 basis points, taking the closely watched deposit rate to 3.5 percent.

Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe, Ireland's minister for public expenditure, national development plan delivery and reform, is due to participate in a conference on the Greek economy titled "Resilience, Progress, Perspective" in Athens on Tuesday, which will be hosted by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
