Psychological warfare has been a part of the negotiations between the troika and Athens from the very start of the crisis. But the situation is much different now and troika decision-makers should not forget their own share of responsibility.

Finance Ministry sources told Kathimerini on Monday that troika representatives are due to return to Athens at the end of the week but Greece’s lenders were not able to confirm this.

The head of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, said on Thursday that eurozone finance ministers are behind the idea of providing Greece with the financial support that would allow it to exit its bailout at the end of the year without requiring further funding from the International Monetary Fund.

Greece should emerge from Thursday's Eurogroup meeting with a clearer idea on where its eurozone partners stand on its plans to exit the troika bailout at the end of the year and what reforms it will have to complete over the next few weeks to secure this transition.
