A 7.5-million-year-old giraffe forearm bone has been found during this year's excavations that have continued since 2018 on the shore of Yamula Dam in Kocasinan district of the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri.

A fossil flower trapped in Amber had a mistaken identity for 150 years
Eva-Maria Sadowski, a postdoctoral researcher at the Natural History Museum in Berlin, didn't have a particular agenda in mind when she decided to borrow the biggest fossil flower preserved in amber ever found.
"I did it without any expectations, I just did it because I was curious," she said.

Marine fossils discovered in eastern Turkey indicate the region was underwater millions of years ago, according to experts.
The residents of Elazığ's Akçatepe village, who took their animals to graze on a hill at an average altitude of 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level, noticed that there were mussel-and snail-like remains on the surrounding cliffs.

145-mln-year-old fossils discovered at Republic Monument, claims expert
A geologist from Istanbul Technical University has claimed that fossils on some 145-million-year-old stones used at the base of the Republic Monument, a notable monument located at Istanbul's Taksim Square, have come to the surface.
"When you look at the monument, you can see fossils clearly," Serkan Angı, who is also a natural stone specialist, told daily Hürriyet on March 15.
70 million-year-old gastropod fossil found in Turkey
A nearly 70-million-year-old fossil belonging to a gastropod was recently found in Turkey's southeastern Adıyaman province.
A shepherd came across a relief-style figure on the rock in the Şahkolu village of Sıncık district, following which an examination was made by the Adıyaman Museum Directorate.

The Museum of Natural History of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos has announced the discovery this week of a large and intact fossilized tree complete with its branches and roots during excavations carried out along the Kalloni-Sigri road on the eastern Aegean island.
