Auctions growing in numbers by the month
September was a record month for auctions and the last quarter of the year points to a further expansion, as 6,425 auctions are scheduled, according to Axia Ventures Group.
After a long period of inactivity due to the elections and the summer lull, auctions returned in September with 3,195 having been scheduled for the month, up 18 percent annually.

Islamic artworks go under the hammer at Sotheby’s
Some of the best examples of artwork from the Islamic world, including a portrait of the great Ottoman Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, will go under the hammer at Britain's famous auction house Sotheby's on May 1.
The collection titled "Arts of the Islamic World" has 311 pieces that will find new owners in the auction to be held on May 1.

Tempers fray over auctions
Scuffles break out outside a notary office in central Athens on Wednesday. Police said that eight members of the "Won't Pay" movement were detained as they attempted to disrupt electronic auctions of foreclosed properties at a notary office on Kapodistriou Street in the city center. All property auctions are gradually being transferred to the online platform.
