Ohio museum sells pieces despite protests from Cyprus, Egypt

The sale of nearly two dozen antiquities from an Ohio art museum brought in 640,000 dollars on Tuesday despite objections to the auction from the governments of Egypt and Cyprus.

The items sold were among nearly 70 pieces from Egypt, Greece and Italy that the Toledo Museum of Art plans to sell.

‘Beautiful Mind’ John Nash, 86, dead in car accident

Game theory pioneer and Nobel Prize laureate John Nash, 86, whose life, works and painful struggle with schizophrenia formed the basis of the Academy Award-winning movie “A Beautiful Mind”, died on Saturday in a car accident in New Jersey.
Nash perished along with his wife Alicia, in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Manet painting sells for $65 million at NY auction

A stunning 1881 masterpiece by Edouard Manet sold for $65 million at auction in New York on Nov. 5, a record for a work by the French impressionist artist.
      
"Le Printemps," which the auction house Christie's had valued at $25-30 million, depicts a famous actress of the day and was exhibited in 1882 to critical acclaim while Manet was one of the most famous living artists.
