Researcher and kindergarten receive Green Planet charter
BELGRADE - This year's winners of the Green Planet great charter are Mihajlo Stankovic, researcher at the Special Natural Reserve Zasavica, and Pcelica (Little Bee) kindergarten in the village of Setonje, Serbia’s association of environmental sciences experts, which is giving the award on the occasion of Earth Day, said in a release on Monday.
Belgrade Days April 16-19
BELGRADE - Belgrade Days will be held April 16-19 and the organizers have promised a rich and impressive programme.
Secretary of the provisional city authority Goran Vesic pointed out the opening of the old royal residence for the public as one of the most important of the events included in the programme. The 130th anniversary of the completion of the residence will be this month.

Bjelic and associates to be taken into police custody
BELGRADE – The Belgrade Police Administration, in collaboration with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, has issued an order for nine persons, including former city manager Aleksandar Bjelic, to be taken into police custody on suspicion of fraud allegedly perpetrated by them during a reconstruction of the Serbian capital’s longest street, Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra.
Concert 'Sound of birds' in Youth Centre
BELGRADE - The concert 'Zvuk Ptica' (The Sound of Birds) in the Belgrade Youth Centre on April 15 will feature the performance of saxophone player and composer Jasna Jovicevic and her colleagues who will present an entirely new experience of natural sounds fused with jazz and electronics.

Third Finnish film week to be held in Belgrade
BELGRADE - The Cultural Centre of Belgrade and the Finnish embassy in Serbia will organise a Finnish film week from April 25 to 29.
It will be the third iteration of the event, previously held in Belgrade in 2010 and 2012.

Belgrade, Pristina artists to play Romeo and Juliet
BELGRADE - Artists from Belgrade and Pristina have started to work on William Shakespeare's famous play Romeo and Juliet, which will be directed by renowned Serbian actor Miki Manojlovic.
The project will be carried out by Manojlovic's Belgrade-based Integration Workshop and Pristina-based Qendra Multimedia.
Bijelic, Blagojevic interrogated over alleged malfeasance
BELGRADE - Aleksandar Bijelic, former Belgrade city manager, and Marko Blagojevic, former director of the Investment Agency, and five more persons were taken in for questioning before the commercial crime department of the city police on suspicion of involvement in malfeasance in reconstruction of King Aleksandar Boulevard.
Serbian national ice hockey team bested by Estonia
BELGRADE - The Serbian national ice hockey team was defeated by Estonia 5-2 (1-1, 2-0, 2-1) in Belgrade late Saturday in the third round of the Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A.
This defeat has reduced the chances of the Serbian team to win a medal at the Championship, which is being held at Pionir Ice Hall April 9-15.
