Turkey's former Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan announced on March 11 the launch of his new political party, the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA).

About 150,000 migrants have left for Greece after Ankara decided to open its borders. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

But he resigned from the ruling party in 2019, citing "deep differences" with it over the state of democracy, rule of law and foreign policy.

"Our democracy is weak, our society cannot breathe. Our economy, education and health systems are alarming," Babacan said on Wednesday in Ankara at the official launch of the DEVA party.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday appeared to applaud a seemingly deliberate attempt by a Turkish Coast Guard vessel to ram into a Greek Coast Guard patrol off the coast of the Greek island of Kos in the early hours.

Turkey will respond heavily if the cease-fire with Russia is violated in northwestern Syria's Idlib, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on March 11.

If the relevant parties of the Moscow deal violate the deal, Turkey will "never avoid going over them heavier than before," Erdoğan said at the parliamentary group meeting.

In comments to lawmakers of his Justice and Development (AK) Party on Wednesday following Ankara's confirmation of the country's first confirmed case of coronavirus, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that, "no virus is stronger than Turkey," Greece's Skai television reported. 

President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday he would not stop migrants trying to cross Turkey's border into Greece despite EU pressure to do so, but he also announced a summit next week in Istanbul with European leaders to seek a solution to the crisis.
