Istanbul, Ankara mayors to tackle disaster management, social policies if elected

Nation Alliance joint candidate and Republican People's Party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has announced that Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will be responsible for disaster management and Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş for social policies if the opposition wins the May 14 presidential polls.

$1 billion worth of gas found in Gabar: Erdoğan

Türkiye discovered natural gas reserves valued at $1 billion in the southeastern Gabar mountain, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on April 23.

"We discovered $1 billion of natural gas in Gabar, and we will extract it as well," he said at the opening ceremony of Akyazı Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Sports Complex.

Menendez reiterates opposition to sale of F-16 fighters to Turkey

The chairperson of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has reiterated his opposition to the sale of F-16 fighters to Turkey, saying "Turkey has not done enough to be rewarded in this way."

"I continue to be against the sale of F-16s," Senator Bob Menendez told state broadcaster ERT, adding that the Erdogan government needs to stop its belligerent behavior towards Greece.
