Parliament to hold closed session on 'Israel threats'
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has said the assembly will convene in a closed session to address potential security threats posed by Israel in light of its ongoing military actions in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.

MHP leader slams CHP for calling early polls
Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has criticized the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) for asking early elections in late 2025.
"[CHP Chairman] Özgür Özel's call for early polls is an eclipse of reason and a delusion," Bahçeli said at a press conference he held on Sept. 19 in the Turkish capital.

Erdoğan renews call for new constitution
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reiterated his call for a new constitution, emphasizing the need for a "civilian" text.
"Türkiye needs a new constitution to achieve its goals in economy, democracy, global politics, rights and freedoms," Erdoğan said during an event in the capital Ankara on Sept. 18.

CHP amends party bylaw with key reforms
The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) passed 28 amendments to the party's bylaw by a majority vote during a convention convened for that purpose.
The party officially launched the convention on Sept. 6. After an opening speech by CHP leader Özgür Özel, the convention in the capital Ankara continued behind closed doors.

Parliamentary session on jailed ex-MP erupts in violence
A special parliamentary session to address the status of jailed former deputy Can Atalay ended in chaos on Aug. 16, with a brawl breaking out that left several lawmakers injured.
