Sexual harassment on French streets or in public transport will be punished by a new on-the-spot fine of 90 euros, a government spokesman said Tuesday, while admitting it would be hard to catch offenders in the act.

The Turkish Constitution Court has ruled that the authorities violated the rights of a domestic violence victim after the victim experienced a significant delay in protective measures ordered by an Istanbul local court. 

The registered crimes for the year 2017 are 104 237. This was stated at the briefing by Interior Minister Valentin Radev, BGNES reported. Most crimes were committed in the Burgas District, followed by Sofia and Pleven.

Last year, 51,603 perpetrators of crimes were found or 3% less than 2016.

A court in the western province of İzmir has turned down a compensation demand from a victim of domestic violence, stating that the woman, who was under state protection at the time, had “failed” to call the police while being threatened by her ex-husband with a gun.

The gunman is a suspect at the El Camino High School in Witter. A security guard at the school listened to a conversation in which the boy threatened to open fire in the building on Friday and reported to the police.

The health ministry is starting to listen about proposals from the non-government sector to impose more drastic sanctions for breaching the ban on smoking in indoor public places. Two police officers were injured in a shootout with a 37-year-old man on Monday night in the town of Arta in western Greece.

According to police, the incident occurred after the 37-year-old opened fire with a rifle, for unknown reasons, on a car with a couple and their child on board.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said this came in the run-up to local elections in Belgrade and two other municipalities - and called on the authorities to punish those responsible.
