Americans are snapping up homes in Greece, lured by the lower cost of healthcare, life by the sea, and the promise of a five-year residence permit. But critics say the country's Golden Visa scheme has also opened a door to money laundering and driven up real estate prices for ordinary Greeks.

1,000 Albanians Returned from Britain Since Deal to Curb Migration
The Albanian and British authorities said on Tuesday in a joint statement that since December last year, 1,000 Albanian nationals have been returned to their home country - "a combination of failed asylum seekers, foreign national offenders and voluntary returns".

Nearly 28,000 foreign nationals deported this year
Nearly 28,000 foreign nationals have been deported in 2023 so far, the Interior Ministry's Directorate of Migration Management has announced.
In a post on its Twitter account, the directorate elaborated that nearly 2,500 irregular migrants were caught, while more than 1,800 were deported between March 31 and April 6.

Greece set to import foreign workers
The list of transferable workers from third countries who will be able to come to Greece within 2023 and 2024 in order to fill some of the vacancies identified in the domestic labor market ranges from unskilled agriculture and construction workers, to butchers and workers in dairy production.
