The government is trying to pay its "debt of gratitude" to Istanbul by protecting its historical and cultural fabric, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said.

"We love this city, which was entrusted to us by Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Ulubatlı Hasan, with all its districts," Erdoğan said on June 16 during a ceremony to reopen the Vaniköy Mosque in Üsküdar following restoration works.

Memories are fresh of the Second World War in multi-ethnic Bosnia where Turkey's cooperation agency takes sides with fellow Bosniacs and makes remarkable projects for development of the country, including preservation of massive heritage of Ottoman Empire in the region. 

A ?hat? calligraphy art exhibition has been opened at the Hünkar Mansion in Istanbul?s New Mosque, which was built in 1665.

Calligrapher Bilal Akkaya, who hybridized classic and modern forms of ?hat,? said the title of the ongoing exhibition, ?Lord of Roses,? refers to Prophet Muhammad during the week to celebrate his birthday.
