Six more migrant children drown in Aegean off Turkey

Six more migrant children drowned in two separate boat capsizing incidents in the Aegean Sea on Dec. 16. 

Two Iraqi children, aged six and two, were found dead off the Turkish resort town of Çe?me after trying to reach EU member Greece.

The bodies of the two children were found floating in the sea by local fishermen who then handed them over to the ?zmir coastguard.

Afghan refugee carries drowned daughter in Turkey's west

A migrant mother from has carried her dead daughter, wrapped in a blanket, for five kilometers after the Greece-bound inflatable boat carrying both of them capsized off western Turkey.

Ten-year-old Nergis Maghsoudi drowned early Dec. 14 after a boat heading to the Greek island of Lesbos, with 50 Afghan migrants aboard, capsized in international waters. 

13 migrants killed as two boats capsize off Aegean coast

A total of 13 migrants, including seven children, were killed early on Dec. 9 after two separate boats capsized off Turkey's Aegean coast. The incidents come amid a new spate of deaths in the sea dividing Turkey and Greece, as the wave of migrants trying to reach Europe continues into the winter.

Mouzalas: The blame game towards Greece on refugee issue is unfair

Greece hit back at threats from some EU states to suspend it from the Schengen area because of its failure to guard its borders and control large numbers of migrants entering Europe, Reuters say.

Greek Migration Minister Yannis Mouzalas talked about the issue following Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s statements on excluding Greece from Schengen area.
