Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This visit is more personal than business visit.
Erdogan paid a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the day of the marriage of Bakir Izetbegovic's daughter.

Immediately upon his arrival in Sarajevo, Erdogan went to the grave of the Bosniak leader Alija Izetbegovi, at the Kovai cemetery.

Asim Sarajlic, the deputy leader of the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, the strongest Bosniak party in the country, resigned on Monday evening after the leak of an audio file which allegedly revealed details of a corrupt deal involving party officials.

Bakir Izetbegovic is the leader of the SDA party and currently the Bosniak (Muslim) representative in the tripartite Presidency of BiH.

Sebija Izetbegovic spoke during an SDA campaign gathering in central Sarajevo to say she is "not a professional politician - but will become one, God willing."

According to him, this happened during "one of the last conversations Izetbegovic had with Erdogan."

The Bosniak member of Bosnia's presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic, has called on the country's institutions to protect imams [Muslim clerics] after so-called Islamic State recently its supporters to kill Bosnian Muslim religious leaders by shooting them or cutting their throats. 

"No, we swear by Allah, we have not forgotten the Balkans," the Bosnian version of ISIS's magazine Rumiyah warned as the terror organisation issued a new threat to the region.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid tribute on Wednesday night to Bosnia's wartime president, Alija Izetbegovic, on the 13th anniversary of his death.

"Alija, as leader in the fight for Bosnian Muslims, enabled the survival of Europe's most important Islamic community," Erdogan tweeted. 

The Bosnian Serb leadership laid on tight security for the grand reopening of a historic Ottoman-era mosque in Banja Luka, restored after being demolished by Serb forces during wartime.

Bosnian Presidency member Bakir Izetbegovic has send a letter to the president of the UN Security Council supporting a draft British resolution on Srebrenica.
