Four gang members arrested after swindling, killing Iranian in Istanbul

Istanbul police have conducted an operation against a gang which tried to swindle Iranian tourists and overcharge them during their stay at a venue in the Fatih district of Istanbul in an incident which led to the death of one of the tourists, daily Habertürk reported on Oct. 3.    

Detentions sought for over 160 employees at Istanbul courthouses, jails

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued warrants for 87 judiciary employees registered at three courthouses in the city along with 75 employees working at a number of jails as part of its probe into the Gülenist organization, which is accused of being behind the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey. 

Istanbul is losing its soul

For years the only venue that could realistically be described as the center of Istanbul was the historic İstiklal Avenue, dubbed Pera Street in earlier centuries. However, this has been changing in a dramatic manner of late as İstiklal steadily loses its soul as Istanbul's cultural, commercial and entertainment center.
