Greek President: Support for dialogue with Turkey, military ready at any moment

Amidst Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent barrage of invective against Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with whom he refuses to speak, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou reached out to Turkey for a restart of an earnest dialogue based on international law.

Germany wants to see good neighborly relations between Greece and Turkey, Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman said on Oct. 27.

"Good neighborly relations between Greece and Turkey are important, and they are beneficial, not only for the two countries, but also for all of Europe," Steffen Seibert told a regular press conference in Berlin.

Sakellaropoulou speaks with Zelenskiy on Ukraine's relations with EU, NATO

President Katerina Sakellaropoulou discussed Ukraine's relations with the EU and NATO in a phone call with her Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Wednesday.

The two officials also talked about tackling the coronavirus pandemic and the prospects of rebooting tourism, as national vaccination programs are unfolding in both countries, her office said.
