Millenium-old Turkish neighborhood in Erzincan unearthed
Guided by Evliya Çelebi's "Seyahatname" (Travel Book), an excavation team in the eastern province of Erzincan's Kemah district has succeeded to unearth the longest water tunnels and a millennium-old Turkish neighborhood.
Another lynx shot dead in Turkey's Erzincan
A second endangered lynx has been found shot dead in the eastern Turkish province of Erzincan, triggering public anger.
The lynx was found on Sept. 23 in the Tercan district of Erzincan, one week after a similar case in Kemah, another district in the province.
Officials from the Forest and Waterworks Ministry went to the site to investigate after being notified by locals.

Turkish major dies after seven years in coma
A Turkish soldier, who was injured in an outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) attack in the eastern province of Erzincan in 2008, has died after remaining in a coma for seven years.
Maj. Y?lmaz Tankül, who was a Gendarmerie captain at the time, died on March 21 after seven years of treatment in intensive care unit.
