New members of top judicial body to be elected in October
Members of Turkeyâs top judiciary body, the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK), will change with an election in October when the current membersâ term in office expires.
The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has decided on the timetable of the elections, which will officially be announced in the Official Gazette on Aug. 26.
ACL's Turcan: ACL organisations are asking Ombudsman to challenge immediately Ordinance 49/2014
All the national organisations of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) are asking the Ombudsman to notify the Constitutional Court of Romania immediately abut Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) 49 /2014, after PDL did so on July 4.
Second wave launched against police officers in wiretapping probe
A second operation was launched early Aug. 5 against police as part of the âillegal wiretappingâ probe in 14 provinces across Turkey.
Police raided colleaguesâ residences at a number addresses around Istanbul, daily Hürriyet has learned. The list of detentions include 33 police officers according to initial information.

Bulgaria's Ombudsman: I Can't Help the People Whose Money Is In KTB
Bulgaria's Ombudsman Konstantin Penchev said he received plenty of complaints from people whose salaries were blocked in the troubled Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB).
“I can't help them,” Penchev told the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR). “Those are the risks of the market economy. We don't know what's the situation and we cannot find a solution.”

Council of appeals court judges to decide on GD MP Nikos Michos
Golden Dawn MP Nikos Michos is to be placed under house arrest until a higher judicial body decides on his fate.

Golden Dawn MP Eleni Zaroulia, the wife of detained party leader Nikos Michaloliakos, was put under house arrest on Wednesday following a disagreement between the two magistrates leading an investigation into GD and a prosecutor overseeing the probe about her fate pending trial on charges of running a criminal organization.
