Vet adopts baby lion rejected by its mother

A veterinarian has adopted a newborn lion as its mother rejected it at birth and bottle-fed the cub for 45 days in his house.

Working as a veterinarian at a zoo in Istanbul's Tuzla district, Yücel Yılmaz adopted an endangered white lion when its mother rejected it after birth.

Yılmaz took care of the lion, whose mother did not nurse it, for 45 days with his wife and children.

Two lion cubs born in central Turkey

One of Turkey's largest zoos has announced its newest additions, namely, two newborn baby lions.

The Kayseri Zoo in central Turkey is home to more than 1,450 animals of 160 species, including lions, wolves, and deer.

After three lions were born in April, a week ago two more opened their eyes to the world.

Eight Lions Tested Positive for Coronavirus in Indian Zoo

In what appears to be the first of its kind case in India, eight Asiatic lions have tested positive for coronavirus in Hyderabad zoo. The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology told the Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) on April 29 that the RT-PCR tests of these lions had come out positive for coronavirus.

Lion cub Simba born in Singapore via artificial insemination

The Singapore Zoo has welcomed a lion cub named Simba to its animal kingdom following artificial insemination that officials said on Jan. 26 was a first for the city-state.

It is rare for lions to be conceived through artificial insemination, with the procedure first carried out successfully in 2018 - resulting in two cubs in South Africa.
