Bulgaria: 3 Active Outbreaks in Haskovo, Fires in Silven and Nova Zagora

There are three active outbreaks of fires in Haskovo province, where a state of emergency was declared yesterday, regional governor Krasimir Angelov announced at a briefing this morning, BTA reports. Yesterday, fires were burning in almost all municipalities of the province, 8 in total.

Bulgaria will Accommodate Refugees in Containers due to Overcrowded Centers

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) will open up more than 1,200 places for refugees in containers in Lyubimets near the refugee accommodation center there. The measure is necessary because of the increased migration pressure, which in the last week of August caused 90% of the places in the homes for foreigners to be filled.

An outbreak of coronavirus was reported on August 18 at the migrant centre in Lyubimets, South-Eastern Bulgaria.

A few days ago, two infected people were registered at the centre. They were in hospital, but have already been discharged. Nineteen epople from their contacts have tested positive.

They have been isolated. Complete disinfection is assigned in the centre.

Bulgaria: Lyubimets Left Without Drinking Water for High Arsenic Concentration

Drinking water in the southern Bulgarian town of Lyubimets is not safe for human consumption due to an increased arsenic content found in it. The problem affects about 8,000 people who as of today are unable to use the tap water for drinking and cooking, although it will not be stopped so that it can be used for all other needs.
