Verizon takes over Yahoo to complete $4.5 billion deal
Verizon has taken over Yahoo, completing a $4.5 billion deal that will usher in a new management team to attempt to wring more advertising revenue from one of the internet's best-known brands.
Yahoo chief Marissa Mayer to leave company
Yahoo confirmed on Jan. 9 that chief executive Marissa Mayer will quit the company's board after its merger with Verizon.
Mayer is expected to remain with Yahoo's core business, which is being bought by the U.S. telecom titan.
Yahoo is selling its internet operations as a way to separate that from its more valuable stake in Chinese internet giant Alibaba.

Yahoo quarterly profit slides but revenue up
Yahoo reported April 21 a 93 percent slide in quarterly profit from a year ago, while revenues rose modestly in disappointing quarterly results for the struggling Internet pioneer.
Net profit for the first quarter tumbled to $21.1 million from $312 million in the same period last year, amid what chief executive Marissa Mayer called "encouraging revenue growth" of eight percent.
