Seal pup fighting for its life at MOm conservation society
As I left the first-aid station of MOm, the Hellenic Society for the Study and Protection of the Monk Seal, in Spata, northeastern Attica, I couldn't help wondering whether seals remember things the same way we do. I had just visited Kostis, a male Monachus monachus pup in the care of the nonprofit organization's vets, biologists and volunteers.
Dead Mediterranean monk seal to be exhibited at museum in Turkey’s Antalya
A two-month-old Mediterranean monk seal, which was found when it washed ashore dead in the southeastern province of Antalya on Nov. 24, is set to be exhibited at Akdeniz University’s Faculty of Aquaculture Museum, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Alonissos without plastic bags to protect Monachus monachus
Alonnisos, the island of the Northern Sporades in the central Aegean, is abolishing plastic bags from stores and supermarkets in an effort to go green. The project kicked off on December 1 so as to protect the island’s fragile ecosystem. The initiative is spearheaded by the Mediterranean SOS Network (MedSOS).
Alonissos abolishes the use of plastic bags
The municipality of Alonissos in cooperation with the Mediterranean SOS Network and MOm (Hellenic Society for the Study and Protection of the Monk Seal) launced an ambitious program today, entitled Alonissos without plastic bags’, and became the first island to abolish the use of plastic bags.

Monk seal wins tourists´ hearts in Bodrum
A Mediterranean monk seal appeared on the surface of the water and posed for the cameras off the Cennet Beach in Turkey?s touristic district of Bodrum.
The endangered species appeared in the sea off Bodrum?s Göltürkbükü neighborhood before disappearing back into the Aegean.
