Kotzias, Johnson meet in Athens

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson fix their ties before posing to photographers at the Foreign Ministry in Athens, Thursday. Talks between the two men focused on the latest United Nations-mediated drive for reunifying Cyprus and on increasing concerns about Turkey, sources indicated.

Kotzias calls on NATO to boost security for Israel

At a summit of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Friday Greece's envoy Nikos Kotzias called on the alliance to re-examine its relationship with Israel, essentially to boost its sense of security so that it can promote a two-state solution for the Middle East problem.

The suggestion by Kotzias followed a recent improvement in ties between Greece and Israel.

Greeks don't need an enemy

When angered by the inappropriate attitudes of friends, don't we often say "With friends like you, who needs an enemy?" Seeing the awful performance of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias ever since he assumed the foreign minister portfolio in Alexis Tsipras' government, perhaps that expression should be reworded as "With Kotzias as foreign minister, do the Greeks need an enemy?"

Nikos Kotzias: Germany wants to punish Greece

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said Germany had a hegemonic role in Europe and was demanding more austerity measures from Greece in an interview to magazine “National Interest”. In his interview given to the magazine’s publisher J. Heilbrunn, Mr. Kotzias argued Germany’s goal was to drain Greece and not bring growth to the country.

Kotzias will meet with Tillerson on March 13th

The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias will have a meeting with Rex Tillerson on March 13th in Washington. The meeting is a very good opportunity for Athens to express its concerns about the Turkish dangerously provocative stance of the last months and to promote its positions on a series of issues and especially the Cyprus negotiations.

 

Kotzias stresses need to maintain communication with Ankara to avoid 'accident'

Responding to a series of inflammatory comments by Turkish government officials about sovereignty in the Aegean, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias on Friday underlined the need to keep "open all channels of communication" with Ankara to ensure that "there is no accident or tense incident."
