Police in Edime have reported that Turkish border police have seized 775kg of heroin at the Hemzabeyli border crossing on the border with Bulgaria, quoted by BNR.

The record quantity of drugs was found in a truck with an Iranian registration traveling from Iran through Turkey and Bulgaria to Romania.

Customs officers at Kalotina Checkpoint have seized 3720 kg of acetic anhydride. This was announced by the press center of the National Customs Agency.

Serbian Customs and police officers on Tuesday thwarted an attempt to smuggle 39.4 kilos of narcotic across the country's northern Horgos border crossing.

The Customs Admisnitration said the drug, that the perpetrators tried to take across the border into Hungary, was "most likely" heroin.

A protected witness, K1, one of the members of Naser Kelmendi's alleged crime ring, testified against his alleged former boss on Monday, stating that the group smuggled heroin from Turkey through Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia to Bosnia, where it was sold to different European countries.

A probe into the founding general director of an anti-drug organization in Turkey, who was ironically arrested over drug possession in late January, has widened further with new serious allegations of drug distribution and sexual assault.

Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said on Friday that police had arrested several drugs trafficking suspects, including the two biggest drug lords in Serbia.

More than 130 kilograms of heroin have been seized by Moldova's customs service on the country's border with Romania.

The drugs were found late on Monday hidden in 250 packages in a truck transporting tiles from Ukraine to Bulgaria. The market value of the confiscated heroin is said to be between 10 and 20 million euros.

Greek police have arrested a Nigerian man for possession of heroin at the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport in Athens, Sunday. Officers of the Attica Narcotics Department apprehended the 37-year-old Nigerian when he landed in Athens, flying from Uganda via Constantinople. The man had swallowed 1.285 grams of heroin in small packs.

China on June 24 gave its first-ever assessment of the scourge of drug abuse, saying it caused annual economic losses of 500 billion yuan ($80.54 billion) and as many as 49,000 deaths last year. 

China has intensified a crackdown on drugs as the rise of a new urban class with greater disposable income has fuelled a surge in the numbers of drug addicts.
