Russia has Withdrawn from Ukraine’s Kharkiv Region

Ukraine announced the recapture of more than 20 settlements in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions within 24 hours.

It comes a day after Russia confirmed it was withdrawing from the area, though it explained that its actions were related to the "implementation of the special military operation" (as Moscow calls the war in Ukraine, which today entered its 201st day).

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced two villages were liberated by the Ukrainian forces near Kharkiv - Artemivka and Vasylenkovo.

Zelensky says Ukraine forces recaptured places near Kharkiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that Kiev troops have recaptured from Russian forces several settlements in the Kharkiv region in the country's northeast.

"This week we have good news from Kharkiv region," Zelensky said in his daily address, adding that "now is not the right time to name those settlements, where the Ukrainian flag has returned".

Kyiv did not provide more precise information regarding the counteroffensive, reports Reuters.
The governor of the Luhansk region, Serhii Gaidai, announced to Ukrainian television, without specifying the locations, that "the counterattack is underway" and the forces of Kyiv "are having some success", but did not provide more information.
