PKK operation ends after 16 days in Turkey's southeast

A major operation launched against outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants was finalized after 16 days in Turkey's southeastern provinces on March 21, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported. 

At least 7,000 members of the security forces attended the operations in the Diyarbakır province's Hani, Lice and Kulp districts.

11 PKK militants killed in Turkey's southeast

A total of eleven outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants were killed in operations in the southeastern provinces of Bitlis and Diyarbakır, Doğan News Agency has reported. Gendarmerie teams engaged in an armed clash with a group of PKK militants on Feb. 24 in a forested area in Bitlis. 10 PKK militants were killed and another two were captured in the operation.

Two Turkish soldiers were killed early on Jan. 14 in an operation conducted by the security forces in eastern Bitlis province of Turkey, according to Bitlis governor's office. 

Two other soldiers were wounded during an operation against outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK), said the statement released by the office. 

PKK militant aiming to assassinate district governor killed in southeastern Turkey

An outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militant who aimed to assassinate a district governor in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır has been killed by security forces in clashes that erupted during a security operation targeting a house in the Yenişehir district. 

Police officer and soldier killed in southeastern town

One police officer was killed on Jan. 16 after being injured in clashes between security forces and outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the Sur district of Diyarbak?r, southeast Turkey.

The 35-year-old officer, Ali Bulduk, died at the Diyarbak?r Military Hospital and his body was sent to the southern province of Adana for his funeral.
